TRAVEL - MONTANA & WYOMING

Northern Winter

FEBRUARY 2022 - PERSONAL

Cold days, colder nights, and the incredible beauty of a frozen landscape. There is something about the perceived inaccessibility of a land covered in snow and ice that captivates me, as if it is a place not meant for humans. More gear is required for even short adventures, the consequences of something going wrong are greater, and yet it is precisely here, in this frozen part of the planet, where I feel the excitement of exploration come alive in me.

From days spent in the backcountry on skis to frigid pre-dawn hikes where my boots made otherworldly squeaking sounds on the frozen ground, I set off to experience the raw beauty of winter and along the way connected with friends new and old to share the moments that make this time of the year memorable. Scenes from a solo road trip from New Mexico to the Canadian border in Montana in the heart of winter.

Mt. Glory

Situated on the western border of Wyoming lies Mt. Glory and in winter it becomes a destination for skiers who are willing to put in some leg work in order to reach untouched snow. A short drive from Jackson up Teton Pass is as close as you can get to the start, and then it’s on foot from there. With each step the views became more spectacular, and the descent was purely magical. What a wonderful day spend with great people.
